Training Through Pukekohe's Spring

October 11, 2026 — CrossFit Pukekohe

October in Pukekohe is a month of four seasons before lunch. You leave the house in a jacket, you’re sweating by the time you get to the car park, and by the afternoon there’s a southerly coming across the paddocks and a shower on the roof. It’s the time of year where training plans quietly fall over, because the weather keeps giving you a reason to leave it until tomorrow.

That’s the whole argument for training indoors with a coach and a group waiting on you. The workout happens whether it’s 8 degrees and drizzling or a proper warm spring morning. Same room, same time, same people.

Lighter mornings, lighter evenings

The clocks have gone forward and the light has come back at both ends of the day, which makes our weekday hours a lot easier to use. We’re open Monday to Friday, 5:00am to 7:00pm. The 5:15am crew get their session done before the day starts making demands, and the afternoon and evening classes are there for everyone who can’t. One member put it well in a Google review: “There are a range of classes throughout the day which makes it flexibl…”

Pick the slot that survives a busy spring week, not the one that looks best on paper. If you’re not sure which that is, ask us and we’ll find one that works.

Term 4 is on, so Kids and Teens are back

Our Kids and Teens CrossFit classes run during the school term, which means they’re going right now through to the end of the year. Kids classes are built around movement, games and age-appropriate activities, with a grading system to work towards. Teens classes bring in more advanced movements and scaled training, and build the technique and habits that stick.

And if the childcare juggle is the thing stopping you, kids are welcome to come along with you and hang out in a safe space while you train.

Saturdays are for CrossRocks

Spring weekends get full — sport, jobs around the house, family. CrossRocks is the one that’s easy to say yes to: longer cardio efforts mixed with functional movements, usually in pairs. Take it steady and chip away, or race your partner. No pressure, no ego, just a good way to finish the week.

Build something between now and summer

October is the right time to start, because you’ve got a proper run at the warmer months rather than scrambling in January. CrossFit classes mix gymnastics, weightlifting and cardio and change daily. Weightlifting is there whether you’re learning the fundamentals or you’ve been under a bar for years. Elite Members get Open Gym time to work on their own goals.

Every class is led by a coach who watches how you move and scales the workout to suit you, whatever your age or experience. As one member wrote in a Google review: “Workouts are super fun and can be scaled to any ability.”

The trial is free — an intro session with a coach, then a week of classes to meet everyone. Read more about us, look at membership options, or just book a trial class and come see what a spring morning in here looks like.
